What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

i am posting this because it just makes me sick when I think about the overall situation. I would be the 'child' the child support was for. I am now over the age 18 but i would like to share my experience being the 'child' at one time.

My bio father sometime paid wut he was ordered to pay. When i would see him when i was younger i would give him the message that i could use some $. His response if he couldn't, well his job is takin it out. He don't kno why im not gettin the money if they(govt) are taking it out..wuteva...
he now owes back child support in the range of say $30,000 maybe more..lol...which he has moved out of texas for a few years now to Iowa i believe. he basically wont be coming back to tx bcuz he cannot get anything like credit or license cuz he owes c.support...now I assume the case closed after i was legal age, but he still owes the money to the state. I do not believe it is fair that the state can try to collect the back pay he owes but I or my mother will not recieve any portion of it. My mother was not recieving any state assistance so its not like she was using up money from the state for food or healthcare for me....but really we joke like i should sue my father for the money he owes that i should have been getting when i was younger and could have used.

this is basically just my ranting bcuz i see him as a dead beat man(not my father) that I could have used that money for my college career instead of goin through the struggle finding money for school, trying to support myself, taking on my own debt to pay for school when that $30,000 of back child support he owes would cover that and then some...that is sadly funny when i think about it that way....so thank u to him that he is able to move to another state to avoid paying support when i needed it...
to people on here trying to get out of paying or wuteva just think about what you are doin...

I am not a senior member, but after reading many of the posts and responses from others, I don't think that the case would be closed on arrears just because you are over 18. MOM can still sue Dad for that back child support, to my understanding. (Especially if she didn't receive state aid.) I may be wrong so wait for one of the seniors.

Your Mom has ten years from the date the child support terminated, to get a Judgment for the unpaid child support. (TxFC 157.005(b)-that's a limit on the court's jurisdiction, not a statute of limitations)
She had two years after c/s term'd to file an Enforcement Motion which carries the threat of six months' jail (TxFC 157.005(a))

If Mom gets the Judgmt within 10 yrs of term'n, collection on that Judgmt will continue via wage assignments & possibly from his SS income.
