What is the name of your state? I am a physical therapist practicing in the state of Tennessee. I recently sold my practice but we retaimed our accounts receivable. This occured in June 2002. My question is how long is an insurance company able to go back to request a refund on overpayments? We (the business was a partnership) are dividing the payments that come in, but we need to know about keeping a reserve and how long to keep it in case an insurer decides to come back and request an portion of payements back.
