On 1/2/01 my son reported for his shift with the full intention of working. He whas then called into an office and terminated from his position. Around two weeks later he received COBRA insurance papers and it stated that he was terminated on 12/29/00 and his insurance was canceled on the 29th. On his last paycheck dated, 1/5/01, which was his vacation time along with time worked, they took out insurance premiums. Insurance at the company is prepaid.

First question, is it illegal to cancel insurance before you are even terminated?

Second question, if they took out the money on the check dated 1/5/01 what does that mean?
