I need advice quick. my daughter in college has a roommate who wants to move and wants my daughter to put her name on the lease. my daughter is the 4th roomate and is not on the lease. the landlord had only wanted 3 in the house. This roommate decided last night that she wants us or our daughter to sign the lease so she can leave. I wasnt to discuss this with her and my husband before we make a decision but this girl says she will call the landlord and/or the police if we don't sign. I have paid the rent to all 3 and the heating bills and have the checks.
Do I have any legal standing?

Pack up your daughter and move her out... Your daughter does not have to sign onto the lease unless the LL absolutely demands it... As for the roommate who is leaving, let her leave, sounds like your daughter can do without her... Keep all your receipts of rent/utilities/etc. paid as you may need those...
