What is the name of your state? Texas

We recently purchased a home here and we have only owned the home for 7days. We closed last Friday July 29th. We were told at closing, after we had signed our portion of the papers, that there was a small plumbing problem and they(the owners) had already called out a plumber. The problem was described as "a slow draining hall bathroom sink and master bathroom sink." We were told that the two sinks, which share a common wall, are backing each other up and a little water is coming out from under the master bath sink. We were told that their plumber said it was due to a clog in the pipe shared by the two baths, and that teh plumber could not reach it with his tools. He told the owners that he would need to go through the common wall between the two sinks and fix the clog from there, and he would also install another piece of pipe to prevent future clogs. We agreed, not on paper, but in the title company's office taht they would give us a check for the amount of the plumber's repair quote. This came to $265. Since we purchased an AHS home warranty w/ the house, we decided to call them. The sent a new plumber who says he's pulling out mud from the outside cleanout and we are looking at a collapsed pipe under the slab. This may end up costing as much as $5000. Ahs home warranty only provides up to $500. The homeowners insurance we carry, Allstate, does'nt cover anything under the slab.

Do we have any options at all? Thank you very much in advance.

Texas full disclosure??

Does Texas have a full disclosure law? If yes, did the Sellers put anything in writing? Such as "leak in master bath" or anything about the plumbing? If your state has such a law and the Seller did put something in writing - you may have a chance of getting the Seller to pay for the costs.

**A: how were you "told" all of the problems? Was any of the disclosures made in writing? And why were you told at closing as opposed to way before closing? And where is your Realtor?

We were told at closing, in person by the owners. There was no disclosure made in writing. They told us, in person, a few days before closing, that the two sinks were backing each other up, slow to drain, and a small amount of water leaked from the base of one of the sinks. The owner said they had a plumber coming out to fix it and that it was just a clogged drain. Then, at closing, they tell us, in person, that the plumber had just been to the house that morning and informed them it was a clog, but it was in such a place that he would have to gain access through a wall and could fix it from there.

We had just walked out of the closing office from signing our portion of the papers, when we were told this news. They offered us a check for the cost of the quoted repairs(from their plumber). We accepted the check and call AHS warranty. The AHS plumber wants to tunnel under the slab and do much more extensive work.

We were basically told, not in writing, about this problem and it was described as something small and easily fixed. It apparently is more serious than was described to us, at least according to our current plumber. I guess we are really just stuck footing the bill and I'll just try to do what I can with some help from friends.

Our AHS plumber said he's ready to take everybody to court and he has experience taking realtors, insurance companies, ect. to court. That seemed a little strange to me that he was so eager to start talking about lawsuits.

Thoughts?
