No, it is not legal, unless more than a "reasonable" amount of time elapsed between the time of signing the offer, and the time you were able to pay the amount of the offer. Unless otherwise stated in the offer, a reasonable amount of time would be 30 days. Please consult a "Real Property" attorney as soon as possible.
