What is the name of your state? Yorkshire, ENGLAND.

Hi,
My wife and I hold execution only (nominee) accounts with a local stockbrokers. They have recently changed their terms and conditions hence I refused to sign the new contract and requested our accounts be closed, and the holdings returned to us. The stockbrokers are stating that they require a fee to close our accounts and return the holdings. I feel that due to them making the ammendments to their terms and conditions (which results in increased dealing fee's for us) I should not incurr any costs to close the accounts and obtain the holdings??? Where do I stand legally, I have politely pointed this out however they still require the funds before closing the account and returning the holding??? Thanks for ANY help.

While it is not real fair, it is common and not against any law that I know of. If the fee is not too exhorbitant, go ahead and pay it.

Just my opinion. I am not a lawyer.
