In April of 2000 we began this long process of buying our very first home. On our original contract it states an estimated move in date of October 2000. We have since been given the run-around by the developer and the quality of our home has suffered because of this. The floors are sloping, the "leather paper" surrounding the home has deteriorated - this has been replace in the front of the home but not the back. Since April, we have been given approximately 8 different closing dates, none of which have happened and none of which did they notify us when the dates were slipping. Several inspections were scheduled only to have noone show up, noone call, and the house not ready for inspection. The development has continuously lied to us on a regular basis, having recently told us we would get money taken off of the purchase price for all the delays - hasn't happened and we don't expect it will. There are so many details regarding this situation and I do not have the room to write it all down here. We really want this home, but we want a quality home and not one that is going to "just barely pass inspection." Already they have had to tear out and fix the plumbing in our home. What we believe is happening is that we are being pushed off so they can complete the homes they sold for more money. Several people backed out of the original purchases and so the homes around us were sold for more money. They are all being completed as ours sites. Ours was originally supposed to be one of the first done on the street, then they changed the construction order and we were about 3rd as they were going to work they way down the street. They seem to be doing this, except for the fact that they skip our house. Can you help us or direct us in what we should do next? Do we have options here??? Thanks!
