dear sirs:
my sister was in an automobile accident in 1980 - she was a pedestrian. this resulted in a coma for 1 ½ months and hospitals for six months. she’s now 51 years old. she gets along pretty good at the present time but as she grows older the need for special medical treatment will increase. her only income is social security disability.
my question is concerning her home, which she owns – no mortgage. she would like to transfer her home to some kind of trust or joint ownership in order to protect it from possible ‘asset spend down’ as indicated in the Medicaid law. what would be the best way to handle this matter? thank you for any advice you can offer.......mike
