I was involved in an altercation with another female approximately two weeks ago. I believe that she instigated the situation when she pushed me. Prior to her pushing me I did not lay a finger on her nor assault her in any way. In retaliation to the push I punched her. This began the physical altercation. The police arrived after the occurrence and without being given the opportunity to provide my explanation of what occurred, I was arrested. I was later told at the police station that I was being charged with battery. I have court in a few weeks and I would like to know what rights I have and how I may dispute this charge. I would also like to know if I am able to have this situation erased from my records. She ended up with nothing but scratches on her face. I, on the other hand, was severely bitten by her.
