I HAVE ASKED TWICE IF ANY KNOWS WHAT MY RIGHTS I COULD HAVE TO MY STEP CHILDREN THEY ARE 11& 12 AND THEY WANT TO LIVE WITH ME I GUESS KNOW ONE KNEW THE ANSWER BUT IAM ASKING AGAIN DO I AND IF I DO WHERE DO I START I WANT THEM AND THEY WANT ME THEY LIVE WITH THERE GRAND MOTHER WHOM THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED BADLY PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER PLEASE I DON'T KNOW WHO TO TRUST THANK YOU ANY ONE

You need to hire an attorney, you as a step parent basically have no legal rights to the children... especially now that you and the father are no longer together.. you would need to report and have evidence of the abuse in order to present it to the courts. The most you could get was guardianship and if both parents are living they would have an opportunity to be heard in court.

I agree with LadyBlu..you must must must have proof that these children are being abused.. and being "treated badly" doesn't neccesarily mean abuse in the eyes of Child Services. But I would strongly suggest that you hire an attorney, because just as LadyBlu said, you have no legal right to those children, as long as there are blood relatives living. Even if Child Services came in and found an abusive situation, if there is another family member, wouldn't they get the children? Someone with more expertise will have to answer that one for you.

THANK YOU LADY BLUE AND RAINMOMMY I WILL SEEK A LAWYER AND I WILL LET YOU WHAT I FOUND OUT BUT I PRAY IT WILL WORK OUT. I TALK TO CHILD SERVICES AND THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE I HAVE A BOND WITH THEM AND RAISED THEM FROM 3 TO 10YRS OF AGE AND THE CHILDREN 'S HELP SINCE THEY ARE 11 AND 12 I COULD HAVE A GREAT CHANCE. BUT I WILL SEEK AN ATTORNEY BEFORE I DO ANYTHING ELSE. BUT THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING.
