Illinois. I bought a camcorder at Best Buy on their interest free policy in May of 2000. Next day I found on at circuit city. Returned it, end of story. NOT. Go away for the summer, come back and find they have sent me a billion overdue notices for 2 dollars of all things. After some investigation and playing with receipts, I come to the conclusion that I returned the item (an 800 dollar item) in a lower tax area (bought it in Chicago returned it in suburbs)--so all this was their frickin' fault.
Anyway, after many phone calls, trips to the store, talking to HRS, their credit service, the guy in customer service tells me he is sorry, I should just pay the 10 dollars (the stupid thing accumulated interest) and they gave me an in store gift certificate to compensate. I figured it was soo much trouble to get this thing taken care of that I would go that route.
Well, 9 months later (that was September) everywhere I go a 3 keeps showing up on my report, I am denied Mickey Mouse credit cards, the whole shebang. I go to Best Buy, they tell me to deal with their Credit service HRS, I call HRS, they tell me to go to the store. Finally, one lady tells me in March it is taken care of (at the store). Today husband is out looking for a car, Guess what, yep, it is STILL ON THERE. What should I do? Do I have a right to be compensated for all this headache. Who do I talk to? I am sooooo upset it is unbelievable.
