Hey~
I am writing this for my good friend. A few months ago, his friend got really drunk. He was slightly intoxicated, but not nearly to the degree his friend was. His friend asked him to drive his (the friend's) car to drive him home because he was real wasted and couldn't make it. My friend agreed to do this, but they made it less than a block. They hit a faulty railroad track (one that had paralyzied a man in an accident the week before) and got in a bad accident. His friends was in pretty and shape and almost died suffering sever wounds, however the friend has made a complete recovery. My friend was injured too, but he recovered as well. Now, he is facing a felony charge of intent for bodily harm. His trial is in a couple days. He has attended the alcohol classes and taken drug tests that the court required. The first test was diluted, becasue he drank too much water because he takes creatin and has to drink a lot water, the second one is diluted as well, because they didn't tell him his first one was until the day of his second one. The third one will be clear, because hasn't done any drugs and has stopped taking the creatin, but i don't think it will happen before the court case. He does not have enough money to hire an attorney, so he has taken the one the court appointed, but the attorney does not seem too enthusiastic to help him He is 19 and doesn't have a job or go to school currently because he can't drive, he is trying to get a job to get money to go back to school, do you think the court will hold his status against him? Do you think he has a chance to avoid prison time and the felony charge? What can I do to help him? what can he do to help himself?

Acouple of questions. Was your friend charged with a dwi? If he has a court appointed attorney he is going to have to bug the hell out of them to get anything done. Who is fileing a law suite on him, his friend? I don't think there is any proof of him intending to hurt someone. Does your friend have a job now? The hell with worrying about going back to school, there will always be time for that.I'm pretty sure the judge would look at him as being more resposible if he took care of this first. If your friend has a job tell to look in the yellow pages for an attorny, one that has free concultations. Tell him to make a list of all the questions he has, bring pad and paper. There is a limit to how much time you have at one.He might be able to work somthing out with a payment schedule. It's better than a court app. attorny.
