What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania
I work at a hardware section in a retail store in Pennsylvania. I'm considered a cashier only and make minimum wage. I also receive a percentage from selling credit applications (store cards ect.)
I work mostly in the hardware section with the sales associates who make commision off most of the tools in the department. I however do not. Each employee has a unique ID they use when they ring things up so if you get commision they know, if you make a mistake or do something wrong during a sale, they know.
Now i genereally stay away from the tools they receive commision on. Only when we're incredibly busy do i ring these up and when i do i ask one of the sales assosciates for their number and it works out. I have no problem helping them out when we're busy.
But today my boss informs me from now on i MUST ring up EVERYTHING with one of their numbers so they can get commision off of it. I'm a minimum wage cashier who can only make an extra buck by selling credit applications and they're asking me to do someone else's work so they can make more cash? Something is incredibly wrong with that idea and if anyone has a link to PA labor laws concerning this id greatly appreciate it.
I actually enjoy my job. I have a good working relationship with almost everyone and im just concerned that if my boss tells me to do this and i say no, I'll be terminated. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
