What is the name of your state? South Carolina :p
Help please - I need to know if we just got - well - sorry if this offends anyone - but if we just got screwed. I bought a 93 Jeep Cherokee cash from a used car dealer with a good rep on April 1 - HA HA :( - and on day 3 we have leaks & smoke all over. Antifreeze leaking, trans slipping, and BAD oil burning complete with clouds of smoke. Oh - not to mention the battery wasn't even tied down - fire hazzard! Does anyone know if we have any recourse? No warranty - cash sale - "as-is" but isn't a dealer suppose to be a little more trust-worthy & knowledgable about cars he sells? I am going to talk to them tomorrow - hope to come back with a good report but really would like to know where I stand legally. Thanks for your time & help those that do! :D

My response:

Unless the dealer has a kind heart, or unless the car came with a warranty or you could have purchased a warranty, but didn't, or you failed to have the vehicle inspected by your mechanic before you put your money down, then no one but you is on the hook. The law is "Caveat Emptor".

It is not illegal for a car to smoke in the state of South Carolina unless what the car is smoking is hemp or a hemp by-product

Not unless they give a written 30 day warranty or a 72 hour return policy. You see these used car dealers will clean them up real good then put 50 wt oil in them to slow the leaks down etc...........I could go on and on and on. Im not saying this dealer did but I know of others who have in the past and its criminal to treat people that way.
