My name is Miss Rory Hammon. i am an upcoming screenwriter.
In September of 2001, my friend Jane Smoot gave me a gift. Throughout the summer of 2001, Jane bought me many gifts of clothing, cash gifts and rent money. She became obsessed with the idea that I was going to sell my script. She began to write her own script. Which I helped her start and did reading, editing and story ideas. I explained to her how to work the program.

Now for the doosy. She told me that God put her on my path to help, Which I thought okay. I am poor and i was eager for the help. She decided to buy me a computer as a gift. She took me to Circuit City and opened a credit card in both our names. SHe told the customer representative to send the bills to my house and told but the representative and me that she would pay the bill. She told me go ahead, max card and use it. Then came the bills.

She refused to pay the bills. I called her in October, and she said I dont want to pay this month and I will take care of it next month. Then I called in November and She said she would call the next day and settle the account. And then in December she called me and starting yelling that she would refuse to pay and that was it.

Then December 30, she paid $398 on the account.

She then sent me an email which I printed out with saying that she paid the account and that I now owe her the computer. She reemed into me about being on a crusade for God. I replied diplomatically saying That was a gift, reminding her that at the time of the gift, I agree to reinburse her when the script sold and that i would take over the account. I would then pay an additional 3,000 dollars.
She responded in the email, admitting more than 3x's that she never meant it as a gift and over and over apologizes for the misunderstanding which was on her part. I responded with reminding her of the gift again. She responded threatening that if I dont hand over the computer she will go to Court and sue for it.

I have know this woman for 10 years. Yes she is maniac depression with bouts of mood swings but she has never done this before.

WHAT can I DO? I am a college student. I tried to settle with her but she refuses to listening saying that shes on a crusade for GOD.

My email is [email protected]

PLEASE RESPOND AND HELP.

Since you simply asked "WHAT can I DO?", I won't go into any merits that either of you might have against the other.

Obviously, the simplest solution to this problem is to give the computer to her. After all, it seems from your post that she made all the payments for it. If you do this, be sure to get a signed reciept and a release from any further claims.
