This may sound silly but it is truely causing alot of friction in our family. Will try to make it short and to the point.
My parents are divorced and both re married. My mom and step father have had there dog for 10 years, but had to move overseas they give the dog to my brother to take care of but a month later he goes up north to work so he then asked my real dad and step mother to watch the dog for a few months until he is settled, and the agree.
Six months goes by and my real mom and dad come back from overseas for a visit and want to take the dog back with them. Now step mother is refusing to give the dog back - she says that after 72 hours the dog is considered abandoned. She "says" that she has contacted a lawyer? She as also refused any attempts to try and resolve this in a normal maner- we have even offered to buy her a new dog!!! I would just like to know if she has any legally right to the dog??? It is a pure breed pekinese, I have all her papers ect. Looking for any suggestions.
