Signed Sep. Agree., pro se, 14 years ago w/o thinking of ever retiring, now retired. Her lawyer left no stone unturned. $250,000 life insurance (which company was paying 90%), annunities, health insurance, etc. Was voluntarily giving $2,700 mo. alimony and child support for 14 years. She will never be happy, she is working now, and makes more than I do in retirement, including the $1,000 for 7 years left on alimony and $720.00 mo. child support from my social security.
Fact is: Life ins. was cancelled when I retired, because I couldn't afford to pay myself. Went back to court, they say I have to buy. I will not buy, cannot buy and refuse to leave my ex-wife a rich woman, especially since I have given her over a quarter of million, house and everything I have ever owned up to date.
Question is: I have some money left in my IRA, after she retrieved over half with QDRO, can she attack this to get the $250,000 life insurance, married again, but didn't put wife's name on IRA, she is benificiary, but for tax reasons her name is not on account. I guess I will go to jail for this, it has gone too far and will reach my wife after my death, I have tried to get this changed because of change of circustances, loss of income after retirement, just wasn't thinking of retirement when I signed agreement which I did sign to keep things happy at the time, I know how dumb that was now, just wasn't thinking of my future, like her lawyer was of hers. Live in Alabama, divorced in WV.
