My dad died in May last year and my mom just announced she is going to re-marry in June. I'm not at all happy about this but at least she has said that there will be a prenumtial agreement and I'm going to help her figure out what has to be done and see a lawyer with her. However, I am deeply concerned about the current "power of attorney" for medical and financial decisions that I have. Will her spouse be able to override my "power"? Should that be something we address in the prenumt to provide that I will still have control over medical decisions and/or financial decisions on assets covered by the prenumt?

Also, how do I get my hands on specific laws in regards to prenumt's for AL? My mother has much family property and other assets that I need to be sure stays in our family only.

The spouse’s rights will depend on the wording of the prenuptial agreement. I suggest you have the attorney include a statement about your power of attorney in the agreement. In fact, have the attorney include a statement about every item that concerns you.
