how can i search to see if deceased had life insurance? :(

You start going through the deceased's belongings to see if there is evidence of a policy. Or you begin calling insurance carriers and asking if they have a policy under the name of the deceased.

There is no general data base you can access or general phone number you can call, that will allow you to see whether someone had a life insurance policy.
