My incident is somewhat complicated. A fellow employee has been having some difficulties getting along with my boss, who just so happens to be my mother. In order to retalliate against my mother without finding herself in trouble she has turned her vengeful attention my way. We are starting a new schedule at work which requires us to find a permanant partner. This individual has discovered the identity of my intended partner and approached his wife telling her lies in an attempt to keep him from being my partner. She told his wife that we were sleeping together and that I am spreading lies and slander myself about his wife. All allegations are not true and in an attempt to stop this partnership she has spread lies about me, damaging my reputation not only at work, but also my personal reputation, and damaged his marriage. What should I do? Please help me with some ideas.

Q: What should I do?

A: Sue for defamation. Give an attorney about a $10K retainer and expect it to take two or three years and not accomplish anything but irritating everyone.
