Hello from Virginia.

Sorry if this letter is long , but its vital & urgent

I am seeking personal injury damages (fullest- including full monetary) for the behavior of a co-owner of a large public golf course just outside Chesterfield County, VA (in Powhatan by a few miles )

Before I begin....

During mid August 2005, a friend of mine who has a history of suicide attempts (with recent papers from Tuckers Pavilion showing proof).... Talked me into taking him cruising late at night to help him feel better (his words). I relented and did so.

He asked me to stop on route 60 highway to urinate, which I opposed & offered to take him to a convenience store. He told me to pull into a public golf course parking lot ( as golfers, we were regulars there before). I pulled over and he got out of the car and disappeared.

I never got out of the car & with mass confusion did not know if he was going to hurt himself. I went home nearby to call my parents.

I found out he was arrested for breaking and entering the following day... to my shock. He was found by police laying helpless in a ditch with golf clubs he had stolen. Later mentioned by a detective as "not the profile of a thief". He is still in jail awaiting trial Oct 6th.

Ok... Sept 14th (the day I will not forget)

Almost a month later, on Setp 14th, 2005.... After playing golf there many times since mid-August..... The co-owner of the golf course.... announced outside for the public to here "that I stole". As not spoken in opinion but fact. I was publicly interrogated... (verbally, and had my personal property touched, my golf bag, looked at my clubs & publicly harassed over my friends criminal case for which I was never charged for. I have a witness.

Sept 15th - next day Another potential witness - a police detective

A potential witness (a police detective) came to the house and quoted to me what the co-owner of the gold course had said to him. He mentioned recent break -ends. And arrived at my house and asked me questions about them. I was never charged, and he was a good detective doing his job. I even asked him if someone could be held liable for accusing someone of a crime... without proof, or being charged, referring to the co-owner of the golf course statements. The detective said "yes". I have his card!

Furthermore....

In the small community of Midlothian, even with a private golf course in my sub-division.... I can't even go into grocery stores without over hearing comments, and relentless stares. I have lived here since 1986. My parents have also been deeply hurt.

My character, reputation, and the potential future opportunity i.e. work.... has been ruined. The snow ball effect has just begun.

5 important questions I have to ask

1) Do I have a case?

2) Do I have to pay for an interview?

3) Not holding anyone to it, how much monetary damages could I receive for a civil suit? Key word, could, if I won the case? Just some idea? Maybe this has happened before, and a similar past case could give me just an idea.

4) Should I move???
5) How do I put my life back together?

Thank you ,

please help,

gw

Not from what you posted.
2) Do I have to pay for an interview?
That depends. Michael Jackson and other celebrities charge for interviews.

From $1 to $5,000,000
4) Should I move???
That is a personal decision
5) How do I put my life back together?
Again, a personal decision

Against who and for what??
If you mean for defamation. Technically, possibly (see below). Actually, no.
If you mean against the detective. No
If you mean against the golf course. No
If you mean against the individual who 'uttered' the statements. Possibly.

Do I have to pay for an interview?
What 'interview'?? Of who?? For what??

Not holding anyone to it, how much monetary damages could I receive for a civil suit? Key word, could, if I won the case? Just some idea? Maybe this has happened before, and a similar past case could give me just an idea.
This one is very simple. First, you will need about $10,000 or so for attorney fees, depositions, filing fees, etc. And I do NOT foresee any attorney taking this on a contingent fee basis, since you have an EXTREMELY weak case/claim.
Then, you will need to be prepared to let this ride through the court system for over a year (likely, two) depending on your local court load, pre-trial discovery, etc.
Then, you will very likely lose in court.... as you have a very weak case, if at all.

Should I move???
That is a personal decision of your own.

How do I put my life back together?
SuperGlue works wonders.
Seriously, get over it. This will blow over very quickly...... and become a distant memory in everyone's mind... if you let it. Keep 'picking at it' and it will never 'heal'.

Sir: As with many of the questions posted, yours falls more into a category that might best be handled personally (yes, JETX, warm and fuzzy) It sounds to me like you are more interested in regaining your reputation than making others pay for damaging it. Trying to make others pay, as the other posters noted, would be expensive and likely fail (unless Judge Judy is a close friend), leaving you worse off

Have you explored all avenues with the person(s) who besmirched your name? If your story is accurate, maybe they can help. I wouldn't approach them with a threat to sue, just an appeal for understanding. People are much more likely to respond nicely if they feel that they made a decision based on a clearer understanding of the facts than a threat, and that includes your "detractors" AND their audience. It would be important to allow them ample room to do so. Besides, if they don't learn and keep it up, you can always sue 'em later with a lot more evidence.

Your post is so patently wrong... and legally ignorant, it doesn't even warrant the time of my responding.
