I was just wondering if anyone out there can tell me what is meant by a "full calendar month's written notice". I am moving out of my apartment, and I was informed by my manager that, since I had given my 30 day written notice of vacancy on Nov 4, and that 30 days from that date was the 4th of Dec, that I was responsible for rent for both Nov and Dec. I am just wondering what I am looking at here, and how much I am really responsible for. If anyone can help me out here I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

So I am going to be liable for Dec rent, too? What about if they have to make repairs on the apartment? There are a lot of repairs they have to do after I leave, like replace the carpets, paint the apartment, replace the tile in the bathroom, etc. Am I resopnsible even while they are doing the repirs, too?

Basically, if you intended to leave December 1st or 4th, you needed to give notice a full 30 days prior to the next payment due date. In other words, you should have given the notice on November 1st in order to leave December 1st and not be responsible for the December's rent. Landlords have a difficult time renting the unit out if you leave at anytime other than the 1st of the month.
