my friend has had his 16 year old son living with him for the last 4 years.
Him and the mother were never married.
He was just made to start "paying child support" to her four months ago.
Now that he has to pay her AND take care of his child, they had to move from a house they lived in for quite some time into an apartment.
My question:
This is obviously wrong....
he has the child, and he's paying the mother....
who hardly ever even see's the child and is on welfare.
Can he take her to court without a lawyer?
What approriate documents would he need to file?
What kind of proof would he have to produce to prove the child lives with him?
And where would he need to go to file?

Why didn't he file an objection four months ago? Why has he allowed this to go on? He needs to go to court for custody and support.

How does Deborah know that MOM is getting the money? Does Deborah know whether or not mom was on state assistance when she did have custody of the child? I don't think Deborah has all the information she needs in order to get a proper response from any of us.

I think Deborah needs to have her friend come and give us actual facts so that we can assess the situation.
