California accident---I made the biggest mistake of my life yesterday. I borrowed my friend's car in order to see my girlfriend, he gave his express consent to let me drive due to the fact that he didnt want to. Being late as it was i made the mistake of driving ( i am not lisenced and am underage) The car's brakes were not optimaly responsive (the car,i have come to become aware, has a history of brake problems the last being the previous tuesday in which the car was stopped only with the emergency brake, it was supposedly fixed in the school auto shop I have learned) I was returning to my school when the brakes did not respond, iwas traveling at 25 mph i dont believe iwas negligant in my acts, I stepped and pumped on the brakes, to no effect. I hit the side of another car when i reached the intersection, in which i had a stop sign, but they had the rightof way (a T type intersection)I hit the side of the car which spun it around 180 degrees. I hit a curb and finally the car was stopped by that. the other car was then rear-ended by a pickup which caused serious damage to the rear of the car. I do not know whether the insurance of the owner of the car will cover it. I was not driving with the express consen of the owner of the car, but through my friend who had consent. Does that mean that he gave me implied consent? Will his insurance cover it? Am i liable for lawsuits(the man i impacted with had neck injury, I am unsure of the severity)? How do the brakes malfunction/failure factor in (one of the officer's onscenre referred to them just as "mushy")

Guess what YOUR PARENTS will be sued as well.....

They are responsible for you until 18, so if they have some moolah, then someone will go after it.
