NY. Need to know what it means that a stipulation outlives the judgement of divorce? Apparently my husband and his ex settled on the amount of child support to be paid per week when divorcing. She now wants an increase. An attorney we spoke to said she couldn't because of this stipulation of settlement. Why would her attorney not read the divorce decree the same way?

The stipulation says that child support will be $130 a week.

Unless there is wording to state that it can not be amended, then she can indeed petition to amend the order. Call around a few attorneys and get a free consultation. Call at least 3 and arrange to take all the papers and court orders to one of them.
