:mad: MY FATHER IN LAW IS IN A NURSING HOME HE DOESN'T GET ADAQUITE CARE HIS SUGAR IS ALWAYS UP AND OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS ARE GETTING WORSE. THEY SAID MEDICARE AND MEDICAID WOULD PAY FOR ALL OF THE EXPENSESE OF THE NURSING HOME NOW THEY WANT US TO PAY THEM IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO?

If the nature and quality of the care does not meet reasonable standards -- and the fact that his sugar is up does not necessarily mean he is not getting good care as nursing homes are not able to do the impossible, and sometimes controlling levels is -- that may be nursing home abuse and/or malpractice. A lawyer can help.

As for what is covered and what is not, someone would have to know all the facts. Medicaire only pays for a short period, not long term care, and only if he is sent to the home from a hospital and otherwise qualifies. Medicaid pays only if he has no eligible assets.
