What is the name of your state?NC

I talked with a male friend of my lastnight. He has a child and pays his CS with no problem. Well he was invited to go bowl in some tournament. He won some money pretty decent amount. Well his ex is telling him he HAS to give her half. She said if he doesn't she will to back to the cs office and take him back to court. He has told her he had planned on taking the kids shopping on his next weekend. She said no he has to give the money to her.
He really doesn't have to give her half the money does he? It is not considered income is it? It was just a one time got lucky thing.
I mean he was planning on doing stuff with the kids himself he feels that if he gives any of the money to her it will not go towards the kids anyway.

For starters - how does she even know about it? And no - he doesn't have to give her any.

That is what I asked

He said he didn't tell her. The tournament was at a local bowling alley where they live. He seems to think a friend of hers or something must have been there.

Yeah thanks that is what I told him. She swears she is going to take him back to court tho to get her cs raised based on that. Like he is going to get that every week or something.

I told him to hang on to all the receipts when he takes them off shopping tho in case she actually does try to go to court with it.

Unless it's millions of dollars, this is simply a one time thing and child support will not be raised based on it. Heck, if he won $5.00 in the lottery, would she want $2.50? Not to mention, how much did it cost him to enter this thing, versus what he won....that is the actual prize.

Knowing her yeah probably...hehehe I know both of them for years. I am just glad me and my ex have a great relationship and don't have to deal with petty stuff. And I love his gf hell I watched her kids a couple of times for her.
