I suggest it is worth your while to have a lawyer review your liability. "A friend of a friend of a lawyer" is little better than an internet forum!

It is probably not necessary, but you should talk to the insurance company's lawyer before deciding whether to hire another. And if it wasn't the lawyer assigned to your case telling you that your assets can't be taken, then you should ignore it.
