What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania.

My husband had a hearing evaluation last week at a local Audiologist. We filled out his paper work and signed a HIPAA form. When we left I forgot to ask for a copy of his results and called them when we got home. They said they could not give it to me. I have always gotten a copy of our records to keep in the file cabinet because we have traveled around the country so much that it is easier than trying to get them when we're somewhere new.

Can they refuse to give us a copy?

Thank you.

They can't give YOU a copy of anything unless he specifically authorized them to give you his records. HE can request a copy.

OK...I understand, so I had my husband call them back and request a copy. However, they said they would have to ask the owner of the business and call us back. Wanna bet we never hear back from them??? I think they're afraid we'll go somewhere else to purchase hearing aids, which isn't the case. We can't afford them right now but I'd like to have the results regardless.

Thanks again.
