What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? GA

I got another call from a medical collection agency that calls about every 6 months for an elderly lady that owned my house about 10 years ago. I called back and had a good conversation with one of the agents. She volunteered way too much information (hospital name - I already knew it but why even volunteer it, alternate phone number of debtor - kind of pointless to volunteer that information to me) but did promise to remove my number from her account (as they have said in the past too). I called back just to verify that it actually was the same company rather than another company using the same phone number, but the agent said that HIPAA prohibited them from identifying what company they were and insisted that they weren't really engaging in collection activity. Very interesting that they accept payments over the phone and online, but claim they don't engage in collections.

Is there any HIPAA requirement that they not identify the name of their company?

The company is not something like "cancer patients collections agency". It does seem to have poorly trained agents.
