What is the name of your state? california

Last saturday, I was driving on melrose ave and a car just hit and left rear bumper and took off right away, there were 2 passengers with me and one witness, we jotted down the license plate number but i'm not sure if i got it right, because the insurance company told me cali license plates have 1 number, 3 letters and 3 numbers, ex, 1AAA222, but i only got 1 number 2 letters and 3 numbers, ex, 1AA222, so did i miss one? or are there other states who follow that pattern? please help, thx!!

We have submitted your question to Madam Tashia, the world renowned internet psychic. She is currently in the midle of an 'out of body' trip.... and will take a guess when she returns.

I would probably go to the bureau of motor vehicles website for CA to see the "pattern" of their license plates. Your uninsured notorist property damage or collision coverage would repair the damage to your vehicle.

the insurance can't repair it unless they can verify the who the other party is, they asked me if i knew which state the license plate was issued in, of course i don't know, i didnt have time to catch it since he just took off right away, so does anybody know how i can find out which state has that specific pattern of numbers?

Did you get a chance to look at the color of the letters/numbers or the license plate itself ? Maybe an identifying mark on the plate itself ( eg- flower or peaches)? Did you get the color and make of the vehicle? The more information you and the others (passengers and witness) may have, the better.

You need to talk again with the insurance company, because that 'excuse' is just crap'. Insurance company's pay on hit and run cases all the time.... and never, EVER, know "who the other party is".

As JetX wrote, it doesn't matter. You were struck by an unidentified vehicle. However, the insurance company will probably want to see a police report for the hit-and-run ... you DID call the police, right?

OP, did you really talk to the insurance company? Did you call claims or the agent? The agent may say something stupid like that, but not the claims adjuster. Now, if you don't have the necessary coverage, that's a whole 'nother thing altogether.

Lets not forget that personalized plates are an option available to all registered vehicle owners which, would follow no set alpha-numerical sequence whatsoever. So this statement you are claiming was made by your insurance co is here again, Bull Dumping.

so lets say it was an unidentified vehicle, what are some of the things that the insurance company would need from me? would a witness be good enough? and my other two passengers?

The fact that you now add "lets say"... and even have to ask that question makes me suspect your original claim of 'hit and run'.... so, I will abstain from any further advice.... on how to prepare you for the questions from the insurance investigator.

Ask the insurance company. They'll answer your question. You won't receive any more answers here....
