What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado
I am being threatened by the head of my HOA about my landscaping and tenant issues. The landscape is being fixed but the president of the HOA is unoffically threatening to take my home away and report me to the IRS for my tenants. I am a sixty year old widow, who is having a very hard time surviving on my own. These people are my friends helping me with this home. they cut the grass, trim the bushes. We cook together, go places together. Yes they pay rent because if not I would have lost my home years ago. I have had these people here for years, and now he is harassing me. What can I do? This not the HOA itself, just the president. If you wish to see the e-mail I can post it. He is telling me to have everyone out by Friday, which is illegal anyway due to residency laws as well.
Thank you all for your help.

He sounds like a blowhard. First off, the IRS doesn't care if you rent the property (as long as you have been declaring that income and chances are it may not incur you any tax liability anyhow). They HOA can't just "take your home away" even if there are covenants or other rules with regard to the landscaping or rental use.
