Does the cost of insurance increase if there is no security system in the home?

Usually it's quoted as if there is no alarm system and you get a discount for having a monitored alarm system. I've got an alarm and the discount isn't tremendous (it might cover the monitoring cost, but it certainly would take a long time to amortize the system cost).

It's usually about 5 or 10% of your base premium. Some companies don't offer a discount.
