What is the name of your state (CA)?

I recently had a fire loss at my home. My adjuster settled the claim with me and all checks were issued. I received a message from him yesterday that there was a big mistake as he OVERPAID my claim and it was his fault. Do I have to pay them back? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Of course. People are allowed to make a mistake and fix that mistake. You should have noticed that you were overpaid. Generally, they provide an estimate of what they think it will cost to repair. Also, your contractors will have provided an estimate as well. How close is the amount you received when compared to these estimates?
