What is the name of your state? alabama i have had a house fire in january it is now april, it took over 5 weeks for the insurance co to send me an estimate of damage, it was 140,000 less than my lowest bid, of which i have 4. i called my adjuster and asked to have the supervisor call me it has been 2 months and the only response i have gotten is on a sunday afternoon around 2 the original adjuster called me and wanted to know how the reconstruction was going. i cant even start because the amount they want to pay me will only pay for the demolition. whats your advice

You left out a LOT of details. How much insurance do you have on your home (coverage A)? How much does it cost to REbuild your home in the event of a total loss? How much damage was done? Is ALL of the damage covered? In 4 months additional damage could have been done to your home.

What is the situation behind the fire?

additional info

i have over 300,000 on structure, and the entire area above the top plate, attic has major damage, the rest of the house has water or smoke damage. there are no penatrations of the roof, but im sure mold and mildew are occuring we live in a very humid area of the country. i posted because i was curious as to how many people get this kind of low estimate from insurance companys. this has been very draining on my family and myself. i dont see an end in sight. their engineer recomende taking off 85% of the trusses, but the rest are damaged, my home is on a slab, and all wiring goes over trusses, the insurance adjuster allowed only 400. for wiring, all my home runs are burnt out. my windows have moisture inside due to heat, water or smoke? no mention of them. the list is too long on what they have omitted. cost to rebuild would be around 275,000.
