Adding Info. Insurance claim

Calif.
While staying with a friend of mine, a very expensive piece of
Jewelry was stolen from the house she rents.
The Police suggested I contact the homeowner, Is it possible
to submit a claim against the homeowners Insurance policy?
If I had been injured at her home physically I would most
likely be intitled to some compensation . Since I have suffered a loss as a result of being at the home could I file a Claim?

The homeowner should have a landlords policy and normally landlords policies DO NOT cover tenants personal property. Did you have a renters policy? If not there is probably no coverage for your jewelry.
