What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan
I am writing to ask a question regarding homeowner's coverage for contents of my child's vehichle which was stolen. Her vehichle was stolen and practically all the contents of hers and her friends were stolen from a hotel parking lot in the middle of the night. It took place in another state that she and her friends were considering moving to, looking at colleges, and getting jobs. Does the fact that she was considering moving there impact whether or not the homeowner's policy will cover contents. Some friends have suggested saying they were on vacation. But if that were truly the case, they would not have had so much in the way of belongings because they were planning on trying to live there. Does the insurance cover only if she was on vacation, or given the fact that she was planning on living there still qualify her for the insurance claim? Thanks for any help you can give on this.

How old is your daughter? If she's college age, she should still be covered by your homeowner's insurance policy.

She is 19, so yes college age. So it doesn't matter if she was considering moving there vs. vacation? Thanks.

Thanks. She has told the truth and agrees with you. It's just that one of the other friends is going to tell her insurance they were on vacation. My child told the insurance co. that she was looking to possibly move there, although it turned out being more of a 2 week stay (more of a vacation) because of what happened. So, I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks for your input.

Even if she was going to be going to school there, she would still be covered since your address would be her permanent address.
