Question -- we had a fire -- our homeowner's insurance responded no to the following is this correct --

our policy had full replacement

furniture -- we had custome furniture -- they pre-authorized us a $ amount to replace the furniture -

the furniture we had orginally was no longer available
2 chairs - 1 3 seat sofa

we ordered as replacement -- using NO MORE then the $ amount preauthorized
1 - 2 seat sofa
2 chairs - each w/matching ottoman

we ordered the sofa that was less $ and the 2 chairs the as less $ then our original chairs -- and was then able to have the matching ottomans included -- it was a entire matching set with all the pieces together

the original furniture we had was a matching set

had we not gotten the ottoman (footstools) at the time of order they would not have matched the furniture - they were a set

the insurance co. took back the $ for the footstools - and recogiized that we purchased a 'lesser' $ and 'lesser' seat sofa -- said that was our choice --

how is that full replacement? if we had furniture set with a value of $ -- and it is no longer available -- and then we replace with the above -- we basically lost some of the value of our orignal furntite (this adjustment cost of out of pocket approx $1500)

+++

electrical -- homeowners insurance covered replacement of some applicances and some others not -- electrical -- ie cameras, breadmachine etc

all black and gross from the fire --

the insurance rep stated -- that if the electrical turns ON - then it is fine -- its doesn't matter about the outside of the equipment - that the fire residue is a 'cleaning' situation

what is the legal boundary / requirement here?

thanks -
