In october, I woke up to a bathroom full of water! There was extensive water damage all the way to the bottom floor. I apparently have two insurances- the master policy and my personal homeowner's insurance policy.(I live in a townhouse) The problem is that the master policy is the one that supposedly is responsible first and their deductible is $5.000. My personal insurance says that they cover what the master policy does not. I asked if they would cover the $5,000 and they said no, that they did not cover deductibles. Something is not right! I have two insurances but it seems like my personal policy does not want to pay anything at all. So far the total loss is 7,500 less the 5,000 deductible=2,500. Shouldn't the homeowner's pay for the $5,000 worth of damages that weren't covered by the master policy? What should I do? It seems like the homeowner's is trying to get out of paying. Please help! I am frustrated.
