A few years ago there was an idea floated by a sports agent to develop a National Jockey League, with sports teams of horses/jockeys who competed against each other in a set number of races per "jockey season." The teams, as envisioned, could have corporate sponsors. The idea has not advanced beyond the initial proposal but it is an interesting one - and a seemingly good way for jockeys to earn the type of money that football, hockey and baseball players enjoy.
