What is the name of your state? I live in las vegas, nevada.
My mother recently received a hospital bill, for my sister who was under 18 at the time. The bill is from 1993, this is the first time she has heard of it. Is there a statue of limitations on how long someone can come after you to pay the bill. My sister no longer lives in this state is over 21 and on her own. and my mother is on a fixed social security income and trying to pay bills from her own treatment of breast cancer that the medicare did not cover.

Don't panic! You have nothing to worry about. The SOL (Statute of Limitations) in Nevada is 4 years. The Creditor is SOL (Stuck out of luck)! They can't sue your mom.

Actually, big rob is only partly correct.....

The SOL in Nevada for credit card debt (open accounts) is 4 years. It is SIX years for this debt (written agreement).

However, that six year period has also expired.

If you want, simply send them a very nice letter (certified RRR) advising them that the debt is time barred and to not contact you about it again.
