What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? washington state

if a hospital (e.r.) calls but does not get the authorization from the parents to admit child & they do so anyway, are the parents responsible for the charges

Of course they are. Would the parents rather pay for the hospital or a funeral?

This one just really shocks me:( I'm stunned, I just don't know what to say:mad:

I don't care what kind of bills would stare me in the face as long as I know my child is being taken care of they are what they are, and they would be mine. I would figure out a way to deal with them

... and before you go and say I don't know what I'm talking about...yes I do. I thank God every day for the medical personnel that saved my daughter's life a few months ago. Her medical attention to date has cost over $1 million dollars. The hospital is billing me for the remaining balance not paid by the insurance. And you know what... It costs what it costs, but my daughter is still here - who cares about the money!!!

Rseppi...I really hope your child is okay.

Depending on the circumstances, authorization may not even be necessary - e.g., if the child's life was seriously threatened.

Agreed. The term "implied consent" came to my mind... Hopefully OP will provide more information on the situation.
