Small Business/Big Problem
I have worked at a pizza joint for nine months now, as I complete college. My supervisor is a moody jerk, who constantly harasses employees who don't agree with his offensive stories of sexual exploits, drug use, and the fact that he sees fit to display his handgun to employees. He's made us violate food codes with his methods of food preparation, he's made us trespass to put coupons on doors of people who don't want them, and he's also sexually harassed girls. The problem is; it's a relatively laid back atmosphere and he takes advantage of that. A small pizza place doesn't have the anti-harassment safeguards of a corporation. There is virtually no complaint system and most people just give in to the harassment and quit. I wrote a letter to the owner of the business, and he doesn't seem to be concerned at all by what's going on. Now, I have to work with this supervisor and he knows that I complained about him. He doesn't want to fire me, to avoid a charge of wrongful termination, so he is trying to make the job so undesirable that I quit. I plan on filing a complaint with the EEOC, but if I quit will that hurt my case?
