In Febuary of this year my apartment complex did some roof work. Come to find out, now that it's 80+ degrees and will be for the rest of the week, they took out the aircondtioning units. They say that they won't be able to replace them until the 29th of this month. I'm not the only one either, there are at least a hundred others in the same boat. For one I want my a/c fixed, it's hotter inside then outside. I asked them if I can get something in return for the inconvience.(a little off next months rent etc...) Do I have any ground to stand on legally? Does the law say anything about a time frame for something to be fixed?

They knew about this problem and made the descion to wait until it's 80 outside before they decided to fix it and still won't be fixed for two weeks. Why should I have to suffer because of their mistake without any type of reimbursement.

thank you

Vote with your feet when your lease expires.

From the landlord's side, roof work needs to be done when rain is not in the forecast AND the air handlers must be moved in order to do a proper job of the roof work. They can't be re-located piecemeal. Obviously 80degree weather is not normal for this time of the year and it is unfortunate that the warm weather happened this early.

Frankly, I'd rather be hot and sweaty than come home to the roof caving in on my possessions. You can....

***Get a fan for about $25
***Catch up on movies you have not seen
***Ask for overtime at work
***Eat out and come home after 9PM
***Stand in front of you refrigerator for 3 hours in the AM and PM
