A few times this month we have found a hot puddle of water in the center of our kitchen. it seems to come from the wall behind our sink. No evidence problems with visible lines. We looked under the cabinets and it seems to be coming from the seam at the wall from the floor... but it dry for days and then happens suddenly.
We are in Florida under Citizens, but have no windstorm or flood coverage. 1600 ft house, no HOA.
There is a tile in the center of the kitchen that is hot. Our water bill and gas bills have been very high, but we thought because we have our son back in the house with his wife. I can see the water meter moving when no water is running and that stops when I turn off the hot water main.
It's pretty clear we have a hot water leak under the foundation.
Our kitchen is relatively new, high end and in great shape. Our floor tile is in great shape too, but over 20 years old and discontinued.
Before we rip things apart trying to fix the problem, how should i approach the insurance company?
Clearly water coming up from the floor is an event we can't live with.. but there wont be damage or costs until we try to fix it. How is our outlook for coverage?
Thanks.
