My fiancé and I signed a contract several weeks ago with a hotel for our wedding stay. In the contract it specifically says the hotel will provide a certain passenger shuttle at no cost. Recently we received a message from the hotel saying that due to a change in management, they will no longer be providing shuttles for no cost and that we can schedule our own and that based upon the number of rooms, may be able to cover a certain percentage of any shuttle rented by us. Can they do this?

What does your contract say about changes made to its terms by either party?

If this is just a change in management and not a change in the business, the new management can be held to the terms of any contract entered into by the previous management, under most circumstances. All facts matter, though.

There isn't specifically anything stated about changes. The section about the shuttle is worded as below.

"If shuttle is required, it must be booked 90 days before the day or arrival. A 23 passenger bus is contracted. If a larger bus is requested, an additional charge will apply."

You booked a 23 passenger bus for your guests 90 days in advance as required under the terms of your contract?

Most large hotels have free shuttles available for guests traveling to and from the hotels and airports (courtesy vans). Does your contract for shuttling guests cover transportation needs beyond this, such as transporting guests to various wedding events around the city (e .g., to wedding party photo shoots, wedding venues, etc)?

You should be able to hold the new management to all of the contract terms you signed with the previous management but you can have the facts personally reviewed by an attorney in your area to see if any extraordinary conditions exist that makes fulfilling this particular term of the contract an impossible one for the new management to meet.
