i am in arkansas closed on the sell of a house on 3/1/01 papers were signed in the presence of an attorney. the 72 hr waiting period was completed,the checks were cut on 3/6/01 i received my check on 3/8/01,the buyers received their check and i must assume the mortgage company received theirs. on 3/16, i and the buyers both were notified that there had been a stop pay put on the checks. it has already been deeded to the buyer and closed.what can be done? is this legal?
