I had a house guest stay in my home for 4 months. It was a friend of a friend. He was going to stay in my home for 6 months and then move to his own apartment. He came here from another part of the state (FL) to accept a job. After four months he returned to his home and did not return here. I had called him many times and left messages on his answering machine. I do not have the address of where he is just the phone number. He stuck me with a nearly $300 phone bill. Though our mutual friend I know that he has received my phone messages and he told her he didn't return because of conflicts at the job. He also told her he would send payment for the phone bill but never has. He has been gone for 2 months. He has left behond some items in my home and has never made any effort to contact me about those or the phone bill. How long do I have to wait before I can dipose of, or garage sale these abandoned items? I would like to recover some of the phone bill money. Please note this was a house guest; there was no charge for him staying here.
Thanks
Lynn

No good deed goes unpunished.

Tell him that you will deem the p troperty abandoned if he does not pick it up by X and pay the bill.
