How can I collect on Judgement in divorce

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arizona

The divorce from my ex was final in early April. When we filed, we went to the Divorce Store. Ex was the petitioner and I am the respondent. In the Petition to Divorce, the ex stated that he owed me $16,000 (which he does), and when the Divorce was granted, that $16,000 was granted to me by the Judge.

However, the ex now says he does not have it and to give him time. He has the house, a plane (yes, a plane), 2 motorcycles, 2 boats, a toy hauler, and TONS of tools, all of which I bought with my medmal annuity money. He has not worked in over 3 years, preferring to live off me instead. Good gig for him these last 4 years, huh?

The money that he owes me came to be in his checking account because we were planning a trip to Niagara Falls this summer, and he said he would "keep the money safe from me so I didn't spend it". Yeah, right. He does not have it in his account any longer. He said so, and he showed me his bank statement.

How much time do I give him to make good on this debt to me? When should I file for contempt? Or do I? Don't know the next steps to take. We filed without attorneys. What other info do you need? Thank you in advance.

I'm guessing your divorce decree doesn't give any sort of timeframe for payment? Or a mechanism to force him to sell his toys and give you $16K?

If not, you'll have to file to establish a payment plan.

take your divorce decree to a collection attorney. if you can find one for 30% or less contingency that is a pretty decent deal.
